Snapology Scientist: Making Science Fun

Building a Better Word: Robotics and Contraptions

DATES: July 6-10

Children will be challenged to think critically about the world around them and how technology is used to creatively solve problems. Children will build a variety of robotic models and mechanical contraptions like space rovers, solar powered cars, earthquake simulators, windmills, and more while learning about how these contraptions help mankind and the world. Your student will also learn about mechanical movement, simple machines, gear ratio, sensors, and programming. Included with this camp will be some amazing North Museum planetarium shows.

All About Animals, Ages 5+

Students will learn all about different animals and their habitats in the fun and hands-on class. We will look at different ecosystems each day then create various animals and their habitats using LEGO® Bricks. Discovering Dinosaur, Ages 5+

DATES: July 20-24

Travel far back in time and explore the world of the stegosaurus, tyrannosaurus, and raptors. Students will learn about categories, anatomy, habitats, and diets of some of their favorite dinosaurs, using LEGO® Bricks to bring the Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous worlds alive! We will explore the North Museums Dino Hall: Explore the Past Exhibit and examine some real fossils then create fossil rubbings of our own.

In person Summer Day Camps following all CDC Guidelines will include; small groups, thorough and scheduled cleaning, increased hand washing as well as following all social distancing protocols.

These week-long, day camps are offered in half day (morning or afternoon) or full day (9am – 4pm) format, Monday – Friday.

Space Mission to the ISS Camp

DATES: July 13-17

You will explore the Galaxy after you are assigned your very own Space Mission in this day camp offered in person at the North Museum. Time will be spent in the Planetarium with outdoor activities as well.  Campers will be planning and training for their mission to the International Space Station (ISS).  This fun and exciting Space Mission to the ISS Camp is facilitated by our Lead Astronomy Educator.

Explore nature trails, trees, mammals and more at this outdoor day camp offered in person at the Millport Conservancy in Lititz, PA facilitated by North Museum educators.  Campers will study animals, water and plants on this beautiful preserve while learning about habitats, adaptation, stream restoration and more! Campers will explore the wonders of nature and meet live reptiles, amphibians and insects.  They will also participate in bird identification activities while learning about migration and observe plant behavior while contributing to a phenology citizen science project.

Engineering Everywhere Camp

DATES: August 10th – 14th

Campers will explore mechanical engineering at this day camp offered in person at the North Museum. Participants will be introduced to the engineering design process as a problem-solving tool, specifically to remove an invasive species known as the Cane Toad.  They will design, test and improve technology, while utilizing critical thinking skills and problem solving.  This hands-on engineering camp is facilitated by North Museum educators
