Little Explorer & Me: Insects

Each month, the Little Explorer and Me program will introduce a new topic to our preschool guests. Sessions will include hands-on activities as well as experiments, demonstrations, and more. Coffee is also included!

Buzzerks

Insects see the world very differently than humans. Buzzerks will allow little explorers to see the world like bugs.

Ant Trails

How many ants does it take to the yummy food in the forest? Little explorers need to find the log with the right number of ants so they can eat. (NOTE: for further extension on the floor, build in Cartesian coordinates for older age groups)

Butterfly Symmetry Paintings

All butterflies have two, almost perfectly symmetrical wings. With a bit of paint and a simple fold, little explorers will make their own butterflies to take home.

Insect Collections

What makes a bug a bug? Little explorers need to use their counting skills and powers of observation to decide whether the critter is a bug or not.

This is a drop-in program and no preregistration is required.

Non-Members: Little Explorer & Me activities are included in admission price, children 2 and under are free.

Members: Little Explorer & Me activities are free with Museum Membership ID.
