Preschool Programs
Little Explorer and Me
Dates: The last Wednesday of every month.
Little Explorer and Me is our program for preschool aged children and their caretakers. Learn about science and build your child’s curiosity, skills, and knowledge through play. Each activity is designed to be something caretakers can easily replicate at home using mostly everyday materials. Caretakers are welcome to enjoy a cup of coffee, chat with others and allow their children’s imaginations to run wild.
New topic every month! As part of our Early Childhood Initiative, this program is a place for local parents and caregivers to exchange tips and information in an informal setting. We provide the venue, the coffee, and introduce a topic like The Importance of Play or The Sound of Music. Children enjoy specially selected items that complement the museum’s monthly theme while parents receive resources and get to know each other. Discover how Duck, Duck, Goose and play dough can advance your child’s math and reading skills. Introduce the colors of the rainbow with prisms and butterflies from our collections.
This is a drop-in program and no preregistration is required.
Non-Members: Entry with general admission.
Members: FREE with Museum Membership ID.

STEM Storytime
STEM Storytime pairs the concepts and audience of our Preschool Programs with a live story presentation. This program provides preschoolers with new science and nature based concepts and vocabulary using the familiar tools of storytime and hands-on activities to further enhance new learning opportunities. Watch stories read by a member of the museum’s education team, or by one of our celebrity guests hosts like the Lancaster City Fire Chief, members of the Lancaster City Chamber of Commerce, Lancaster County Agriculture Council, and more!
