Outreach Programs
Quantum Levitator
(Recommended for Grades 5 & up)
The Quantum Levitator is our most popular outreach program. With the help of liquid nitrogen, we’ll explore the dramatic properties of quantum trapping and superconductors, demonstrating concepts related to force, motion, magnetic fields, materials science and even quantum mechanics. This program also includes liquid nitrogen demonstrations leading into the main attraction.
Length: Approx. 40 minutes plus one hour setup and one hour tear down required
Cost: $450 up to 50 students plus mileage
$375 additional same-day program for over 50 students*

Native Reptiles and Amphibians
Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians. While many people think these animals are scary, they have a lot to teach us if we take a closer look! In this program, you will learn all about our local reptiles and amphibians (collectively referred to as “herps”). Depending on the age of audience and animal availability, this program might include:
Activities include:
- Learning about the difference between reptiles and amphibians
- Busting reptile-related myths and learning about animal behavior
- Learning about herp reproduction, including amphibian life cycles and which reptiles care for their young
- Interacting with a toad, black rat snake, and other native wildlife
Length: Approx. 1 hour, plus half hour setup and 15 minute tear down required

Double Dare
(Recommended for Grades) 3 – 8
We double dare you to check out this creepy crawly science program where you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with some of our more unique critters from our Live Animal Room. Depending on availability activities could include:
- Ball python demonstration and meet and greet.
- Examining a tarantula and insect/arachnid collections
- Viewing a scorpion under UV light
- Interacting with Madagascar hissing cockroaches.
Length: Approx. 1 hour, plus 1 hour setup and 1 hour tear down required
Cost: $299 for up to 30 students plus mileage
* To ensure the best possible experience, an additional program is required for more than 30 students.
Mileage Fees:
Up to 50 miles roundtrip = No Charge
51-75 miles roundtrip = $50
76-100 miles roundtrip = $75
